For my 30 works in 30 media assignment I took inspiration from Andy Warhol’s work Campbell’s Soup Cans. At first I was freehand drawing each can and it took me a day to do each one. Eventually when I had only done 3 cans and only had two days left, I figured out that I should probably come up with a faster process. I took the first can that I did and used it as a stencil to trace around. I would then just fill in the details of the can on each one. I used every media I could find at my disposal such as: highlighters, construction paper, rice, eyeliner, hot glue, watercolors, coffee, acrylic paint, charcoal, pipe cleaners, green tea, chalk, puffy paint, chalk markers, sugar, markers, pencil, tissue paper, colored pencil, pen and ink, crayons, chia seeds, nail polish, glitter glue, tape, pom poms, and oil pastels. I arranged my soup cans in a similar way to how Andy Warhol arranged many of his works, in a symmetrical and repetitive pattern. Warhol is one of my favorite artists and I was really excited to base my project around his pieces.

Evidence of Media Mastery
Art Synectics
Multimedia Series
The assignment was to make a set of works that connected in a certain way and also used different medias. I created a series of pieces that revolve around a common theme of space and connected them all to create a visual story. I used colored pencil, watercolor, oil pastels, acrylic paint, pen and ink, pencil, and marker in each of my works.
Synectic Mastery
My synectic mastery was in the form of a synectic self portrait. For my past few synectic works I had focused on a space theme and that theme continues into my self-portrait. To create my work, I first brainstormed how I should include myself in a space setting. Since I had previously had astronauts in my synectic works, I decided to draw myself as one of those astronauts. I was inspired by the portrayals of space that we see on tv or in the movies, not so much the realities of space in real life. The planets in my background are not real identified planets and the stars are placed at random.
For my self-portrait I chose to use acrylic paint as my media. I chose this media because I feel as if it challenges me, however I really like to work with it. I want to get better at using it so I decided to challenge myself by using acrylic. I usually paint in sections and layers so that one day I will do the background and then the next day the middleground and so on. I also like to have smooth brushstrokes, although sometimes I will add more paint to a section to add more definition. In my synectic self-portrait I wanted to portray my personality. After researching many avant-garde artists, I wanted to emulate the way that they individualize their artwork. By including myself and my style of painting, I feel as if I successfully captured my personality in the work. I wanted to communicate with the viewer what I am like so that the viewer can get to know me. Overall, my synectic self-portrait challenged me with the media but successfully communicates my personality to the viewer.
Process vs. Product
Weight vs. Void
For my weight vs. void project I wanted to focus on time-based art. The goal of time-based art is to show how the work was created and also how it changed over time to eventually become the final piece. I decided to make a piece that would show my process from start to finish so that the audience could see each individual step that I made to eventually reach the last stage. The finished product would be a reflection of my hard work and the amount of time I put into it. To achieve a piece that reflected time-based media, I took a picture in between each addition and step to making my work. The goal of this was to eventually compile all of the photos together to create a sort of stop motion picture so that the viewer could see my process from start to finish. To create it I used water, black acrylic paint, white gel pen, and pencil and I also used a gif creator app to make the stop-motion picture. My process reflects the concept in how it captures each choice that I made that would eventually add up to the finished product. My art can show the world how long it can take to create some pieces and how complex the process can be despite it maybe not seeming that way. It can also show the amount of craftsmanship and effort that I put into planning and creating my project and possibly teach others how to follow in similar suit. I think that my project is valuable because it took a long period of time to create and I put a lot of thought into making it and I am really satisfied with the finished product.
Video/ Audio Processing Reflective Culture
Vine compilations are a integral part in teenagers lives ever since the app Vine died. We didn't realize how cherished these 6-second videos were until we no longer had them. As a result, these compilations were born, donning ridiculous titles such as "vines that keep me from ending it all" and "my friend never understands my references so i made her a vine comp". These videos sport millions of views from teens looking to reminisce in the nostalgic feeling that comes from viewing these short videos. The idea behind these compilations has become a subculture in itself among teenagers and to make an example of that subculture I created my own vine compilation titled "vines I put together to get a good grade in art class" to both contribute to the movement and also fit into the ridiculous and blunt titles.
What kind of performance art can subtly portray an opinion on the current state of politics and society? That is the question I asked myself to get inspiration for my performance art project. I had no clue as to how I could do performance art because it was a media I had never worked in before, and therefore it was very difficult for me to come up with an plan. The concept behind my piece was to state my opinion on current politics involving a certain powerful man with tiny hands. When given the prompt for this project, it took me a while to develop an idea that I could be passionate about in doing. One day I was joking around when the thought came to do something that involved a subject I disliked. I chose to focus on the current President of the United States because most of the actions he has taken have made me strongly dislike him. By placing a Cheeto on a blank canvas and then having an outside subject project their rage onto the canvas for me by punching it, I believe I got my point across very well. My art fits into the art world because it focuses on current and important themes that are very relevant at the moment. It is also a sentiment shared by many to have the urge to punch something that symbolizes abuse against many large groups of people. Overall, I believe that my performance art piece is valuable in that it represents the anger shared by a large population over the injustices enacted against them.
